Review Attributes

Overview

The Review Attributes feature enables your customers to provide detailed, structured feedback beyond traditional star ratings and text reviews. By collecting specific feedback on aspects like shipping speed, product fit, quality, and other custom attributes, you can gather more actionable insights to improve your products and services.

Getting Started

Step 1: Access Review Attributes

  1. Navigate to Apps → Trustoo.io Reviews in your admin panel
  2. Click on Collect reviews from the left sidebar
  3. Select Attributes from the menu options

Step 2: Create an Attribute Collection

  1. In the Attribute Collections section, click Add new group
  2. Select a collection to add attributes to (e.g., "Home page")

Note: Any attributes you add will be asked during review capture for products in the selected collection

Step 3: Choose Your Attribute Type

Click Add question and select from four attribute types:

  • Single value: Customers select one option from your predefined choices
  • Multi-value: Customers can select multiple options from your list
  • Range: Customers rate on a 1-5 scale with custom labels at each end
  • Centered range: Similar to Range but centered around a middle point

Step 4: Configure Your Attribute

  1. Attribute title: Enter a clear name (e.g., "Shipping Speed")
  2. Configure options based on your chosen type:
    • Single/Multi value: Add your predefined answer choices
    • Range: Set Min Label (e.g., "Slow") and Max Label (e.g., "Fast")
    • Centered range: Set labels for both ends with a neutral center
  3. Privacy Settings: Toggle Private if you want attributes recorded on customer profiles but not shown in the storefront
  4. Click Add to save your attribute

Let's walk through creating a "Shipping Speed" attribute using the Range type:

Configure the attribute:

  • Attribute title: "Shipping Speed"
  • Min Label: "Slow"
  • Max Label: "Fast"
  • Leave Private unchecked to display publicly
  • Click Add to save

What Customers See

When customers leave a review, they'll see:

  • The "Shipping Speed" question is below the main review form
  • Numbered buttons from 1 to 5
  • "Slow" label under button 1, "Fast" label under button 5
  • They can click any number to rate their experience

Viewing Results in Admin

In your Manage Reviews page, you'll see:

  • Individual reviews showing customer responses
  • "Shipping Speed" appears as a visual slider
  • The customer's rating (e.g., 4 out of 5) is marked on the slider
  • You can quickly identify patterns in shipping satisfaction

On your storefront, other customers will see:

  • The "Shipping Speed" attribute below each review
  • A visual slider showing the reviewer's rating
  • Aggregate view showing overall shipping speed ratings
  • This helps new customers understand your shipping performance

  • Mix attribute types to keep the review process engaging
  • Place most important attributes first
  • Keep Single/Multi Value option lists concise (3-6 options ideal)
  • Use intuitive Range labels that make the scale clear
  • Consider using private attributes for more sensitive or detailed feedback

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

Problem: Attributes not appearing in review forms

Solutions:

  • Check Collection Assignment: Ensure you've selected the correct collection when setting up attributes
  • Verify Product Association: Confirm the products are actually in the assigned collection
  • Review Status: Make sure the attribute was successfully saved (check the Collection attributes section)

Problem: Attribute responses are not displaying on the storefront

Solutions:

  • Privacy Settings: Check if the attribute is marked as "Private" - private attributes won't show publicly
  • Theme Compatibility: Some themes may not display attributes correctly - contact support if needed
